Catalysts based on abundant and inexpensive metals

Entity:

Study and characterisation of new materials based on non-critical and abundant elements. The objective is to generate a new generation of materials with special intrinsic properties. These relate to electronic conductivity, high catalytic activity and corrosion resistance. On this pathway, a wide range of families have been analysed in energetically demanding reactions, such as water oxidation. The latter, highly studied for its direct implication in the generation of green hydrogen, and the storage of renewable energies.

Challenges met

Decreasing the price of electrolytic and green hydrogen. Extending the useful life of electron-catalytic systems.
