Microwave plasma/water pyrolysis
Entity:
Microwave plasma technology is a versatile technology adaptable to many processes and work schemes. At Eurecat we have developed a plasma torch system that facilitates the continuous flow of work. Applied to hydrogen production, it makes it possible to modify its production stages. Currently, the system consists of three stages:
- Production of steam with microwaves; allows working with grey, clean and distilled water.
- Decomposition plasma torch; to dissociate the water molecule.
- Decomposition plasma torch/heat generation; to separate oxygen and hydrogen it needs attached components.
Any of the three stages can work independently and those that are not necessary for the production process to which they are attached can be excluded. If the industry generates its own steam, the first stage can be eliminated.
Challenges met
The need for clean or distilled water for hydrogen production or a very controlled working environment.
Scope of application
In the energy sector, or industry in general as circular economy or symbiosis.
