Prototype
Control system for ethanol reformers
Entity:
Catalytic steam reforming of ethanol to obtain hydrogen. The reactors under study also include a membrane for the separation of the hydrogen generated by reforming. The process presents important compromises between energy efficiency, production and selectivity. At the same time, the system must be able to adapt to changes in external conditions. With these objectives in mind, controllers for ethanol catalytic reforming reactors have been designed and tested in a prototype. In addition, dynamic simulation models and control-oriented dynamic models have been developed.
Challenges met
- Dynamic modelling of ethanol catalytic steam reforming reactors with membrane for hydrogen separation
- Control of ethanol catalytic steam reforming reactors with membrane
Scope of application
Hydrogen production from alcohols
