Hydrogen storage tank design and simulation
Entity:
Design of storage tanks for hydrogen at pressure, liquefied or as metal hydride. Conceptual and detailed solution design. Advice on materials to be used, dimensioning of inlets and fluid dynamic and mechanical (structural) simulation of the proposed designs. In this way it is possible to validate the filling and emptying of the tanks, as well as the structural stability of the tanks during service or manufacturing process.
Challenges met
- Design of hydrogen storage tanks and advice on the selection of materials to withstand mechanical and thermal loads.
- Obtaining validated storage tank designs through numerical simulation.

- High strength steels for the automotive, infrastructure and naval transport sectors.
- Carbon steels, aluminium, titanium and other metallic and non-metallic materials.
